Bathalapalli

Bathalapalli is a revenue mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district, Andhra Pradesh, comprising 11 revenue villages and roughly 40,000 residents per Census 2011. Its administrative headquarters is the village of Bathalapalle (population 12,697), the largest settlement in the mandal and a regional commercial node on the Anantapuramu–Bukkapatnam road. The mandal forms part of the Rayalaseema region; in April 2022 it was reassigned from the older Anantapur (Anantapuramu) district to the newly carved Sri Sathya Sai district, named for the spiritual leader from neighbouring Puttaparthi. Predominantly agrarian, the local economy mixes rain-fed groundnut, paddy and millet farming with horticulture (mango, sweet lime) and small-scale dairy. Public services available across the mandal include a primary health centre, multiple government schools, and a network of bus connections via APSRTC linking Bathalapalle to Anantapuramu, Puttaparthi and Hindupur. Other notable villages in the mandal include Edula Mustur, Malyavantham, D.Cherlopalle, Sangala and Obulapuram.
