The Ramlila of Ramnagar

Across the river at Ramnagar the Ramlila runs for thirty-one days rather than an evening, staged without amplification across the town itself, with different quarters standing in for Ayodhya, Janakpur and Lanka. Ramlila was inscribed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008, and the Ramnagar cycle has been kept for more than two hundred years.
